HEAVY DUTY HYDRAULIC

Trunnion mounted cylinders are heavy duty pivoting cylinders with pintles mounted to the head, cap or intermediate position. Although superior to clevis or pivot mounted cylinders, they may still require stop tubes in long stroke applications.

NFPA STYLE MT1


Head Trunnion Mount. Allows for changes in cylinder alignment. Forces are absorbed along cylinder centreline. Rigidly mounted pillow block bearings must be used, but allow the MT1 to handle higher thrust load than MT2 or MT4 mounts. Stroke should still be limited to less than five times cylinder bore. MT1 mounts are effective in tension.

NFPA STYLE MT2


Cap Trunnion Mount. Allows for changes in cylinder alignment. Forces are absorbed along cylinder centreline. Rigidly mounted pillow block bearings must be used, but allow the MT2 mount to handle higher load than cap clevis mounts. Stroke should still be limited to less than five times cylinder bore, and on long stroke cylinders, oversized rod or stop tube may be required to prevent rod buckling.
